Alex FX releases soundtrack for The Passion of Joan of Arc

Producer and multi-instrumentalist Alex FX has just released his sonic interpretation of Carl Dreyer’s iconic silent film, The Passion of Joan of Arc (1929).

The idea originated years ago as an ambitious project: to create a unique soundtrack for one of the most remarkable films in cinema history. However, between other productions and musical projects, it was postponed—until it was finally brought to life at the Porto/Post/Doc Festival, where it premiered last year. Now, this sonic interpretation is available to the public in a limited-edition double CD release.

Musically, Alex FX bridges classicism with electronic experimentation, offering a new perspective on both the sound and visuals of the film. His composition blends moderate electronic rhythms, captivating orchestral elements, scattered piano notes, ethereal female choirs, and cinematic sound textures, resulting in an immersive and deeply emotional experience.

With a career spanning multiple electronic music genres—from dancefloor-driven productions to ambient and minimalist soundscapes—Alex FX has always stood out for his innovation. His passion for sonic landscapes is evident in albums such as Underdub (1997) and Echomental 1 (2016), as well as through collaborations and distinct projects like Mute Life Department and Mr. Spock.

Experiencing “The Passion of Joan of Arc – music by Alex FX” means embarking on a sensory journey that reinterprets a cinematic classic through a rich and emotionally profound soundtrack.

This special edition is limited to only 150 copies, each individually numbered and signed by the artist, available exclusively via email at echomental@gmail.com.
